Juicing at home has one honest rule: the juicer you’ll actually clean is the one you’ll keep using. It’s easy to buy on yield, then leave the machine in a cupboard because the strainer is caked with dried kale. So we weighed cleanup and staying power as heavily as juice output.

Quick picks

  • Green juice, most kitchens: Ninja NeverClog.
  • Big batches, no babysitting: Nama J2.
  • Whole fruit on a budget: EanOruus E-18.
  • Morning orange juice: Black+Decker CJ625.

Masticating vs centrifugal

A masticating (cold press) juicer crushes produce with a slow auger, around 50 to 60 RPM, and squeezes it through a strainer. A centrifugal juicer shreds produce against a fast spinning basket that flings the juice out. A citrus juicer is just a motorized reamer for halved fruit.

America’s Test Kitchen ran four centrifugal and five masticating machines side by side. Slow juicers pulled twice as much juice from a pound of kale. Fast ones got more from carrots and finished a pound in about 39 seconds on average, against roughly 1 minute 47 for the slow group. Every machine made some foam. Their slow juicers also had narrow 1.5-inch chutes, which is why the newer wide-hopper models are selling so well.

Our take: drink greens, buy masticating. Drink carrot and apple, centrifugal is fine.

How we chose

We pulled 12 juicers from Amazon’s masticating, centrifugal and citrus best-seller lists on October 28, 2026, worked out the share of each owner topic that’s positive, and read lab reviews from TechGearLab and America’s Test Kitchen.

The picks in detail

Ninja NeverClog. TechGearLab scored it 8.7 of 10 for leafy greens but only 5.3 for hard produce, and heard loud squeals with beets. Owners echo both points: 75 of 162 noise mentions are negative.

Nama J2. Fill the hopper, close the lid, leave. That’s the pitch, and owners agree, 95% of 570 performance mentions are positive. One reviewer at The Quality Edit found it quieter than most juicers yet loud enough to startle pets, and bulky on the counter. Parts are hand wash only.

EanOruus E-18. The same hopper idea for much less money. The risk is build: 77 of 100 quality mentions are negative.

Magic Bullet Mini. Fast, small, one glass. Yield is the weak point, with 82 of 191 juice-output mentions negative.

Black+Decker CJ625. TechGearLab liked its yields and low pulp, but found the pulp screen hard to remove. Owners are blunter. 89% of noise mentions say it’s loud.

Eurolux. The lever does the pressing, and owners like not having to lean on it. 443 of 544 durability mentions are negative, often about the handle.

Who should skip what

Skip the QCen centrifugal. 146 of 161 durability mentions are negative, and its title claims 1200 W against an 800 W spec. The best-selling Juilist disappoints on yield, 74 of 139 mentions negative.

Buying advice

Check the chute. A 6.5-inch hopper takes a whole apple. A 2-inch chute means a cutting board every morning.

Read the duty cycle. Some budget listings ask you to rest the motor after 5 to 20 minutes.

FAQ

Is a masticating juicer really better than a centrifugal one?

For leafy greens, yes. America's Test Kitchen got about twice as much kale juice per pound from slow juicers, 5.6 oz against 2.8 oz. For carrots, the fast centrifugal machines actually won, 7.9 oz to 6.5 oz, and finished in well under a minute.

Do cold press juicers keep more nutrients?

That's the marketing claim, and it's popular. America's Test Kitchen found no clear difference in flavor or freshness between types, and saw foam from every juicer it ran. We haven't found solid evidence for a nutrient gap, so we don't rank on it.

How long does cleanup take?

A cold press has the most parts: auger, strainer, chamber and cups. TUUMIIST's listing quotes about 5 minutes with its brush. Citrus reamers have far fewer parts. A brush for the mesh strainer helps on every type, and dried pulp is far harder to remove, so rinse right away.

Can I juice whole apples?

In whole-fruit hoppers like the 6.5-inch EanOruus, yes. The Ninja NeverClog has a narrower chute, and TechGearLab had to cut celery to fit it.

How we put this together

We compared manufacturer specs and Amazon listing details, read the patterns in Amazon owner reviews (we refresh this snapshot regularly), and scored each product with our published rubric. We have not tested these units hands-on. When we do, the page will say so. Prices change constantly, so we link to the live price instead of quoting one.
