Shark Cordless Pet vs JELLYPIG X100: Big Brand or Budget Bestseller?

Short answer: The JELLYPIG X100 for most people. Owners rate it far higher on suction, battery and value, and its bin is more than twice the size. Pick the Shark if an established brand name matters more to you than the numbers.

These two sit at #3 and #4 on Amazon’s stick vacuum list, one spot apart, and they get cross-shopped constantly because one carries the Shark name while the other comes from a brand most people had never heard of a year ago. You’d expect the name brand to win on owner reviews. It doesn’t. The gap is wide.

The deciding difference

How happy owners are. On every topic the two share, the JELLYPIG wins clearly:

  • Suction: 52% positive for the Shark, 93% for the JELLYPIG
  • Battery life: 57% against 80%
  • Value: 40% against 95%

That last one is the story. More than half of the 1,084 Shark owners who discuss value think it costs too much for what it does. Only 71 of 1,333 JELLYPIG owners say the same.

Where they differ

Pet hair. Shark sells this as a pet vacuum, with a self-cleaning brushroll and a pet multi-tool. Owners are split right down the middle, with 309 of 656 pet hair mentions positive and 347 negative, so the marketing and the experience don’t line up. The JELLYPIG uses a V-shaped brush with a comb. In Vacuum Wars’ lab it tangled slightly more than average, but the clumps were minor.

Bin and battery. The JELLYPIG’s 1.8 L cup is huge for a stick. Vacuum Wars measured 19.1 minutes on max, where most cordless sticks manage about 13.5. Shark lists 40 minutes; some owners say theirs fades in about 10.

Carpet. This is where the JELLYPIG is weakest. Vacuum Wars measured it pulling 80% of embedded sand out of carpet, against a 93% average for cordless models. If you have wall-to-wall carpet, neither of these is the best choice. Look at the KARDV V06 in our cordless stick vacuum guide.

Brand. Shark has been selling cordless sticks for years. JELLYPIG is newer, and nobody can yet say how its batteries hold up after three years.

What owners say

Shark owners like how easily the bin empties; 71% of ease-of-use mentions are positive. The rest of the topics hover near a coin flip, including weight at 68%.

JELLYPIG owners? Close to unanimous. 98% of 3,479 performance mentions are positive, and cat litter and pet hair come up again and again. The main complaint, battery life, is still 80% positive.

Our pick

The JELLYPIG X100. It has more suction, a bigger bin and far happier owners, and it stands up on its own when you stop to move a chair or answer the door. Choose the Shark Cordless Pet only if the brand’s track record matters more to you than the numbers.

How we put this together

We compared manufacturer specs and Amazon listing details, read the patterns in Amazon owner reviews (we refresh this snapshot regularly), and scored each product with our published rubric. We have not tested these units hands-on. When we do, the page will say so. Prices change constantly, so we link to the live price instead of quoting one.
